UBE Elastomer Co. Ltd. (UEC, President: Hisaaki Yokoo) has received ISCC PLUS certification for its butadiene rubber.
ISCC – International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a certification system that offers solutions for the implementation and certification of sustainable, deforestation-free and traceable supply chains of agricultural, forestry, waste and residue raw materials, non-bio renewables and recycled carbon materials and fuels. ISCC PLUS is a certification system for all markets and sectors not regulated by the RED II (ISCC EU). ISCC PLUS covers mainly bio-based and circular raw materials, contributing to the Circular Economy and Bioeconomy.
With the acquisition of this certification, UEC will start producing and selling ISCC PLUS certified products using circular and biomass raw material allocated by the mass-balance method*.

*Mass balancing is a chain of custody option in which certified and non-certified materials are mixed physically, but kept separate on a bookkeeping basis. It allows to attribute the sustainable circular and/or bio-based material to the final products via verifiable bookkeeping and ensures the full traceability through the entire supply chain.
